Created for KLAART 18 - 'Off the Record'. Kampala, Uganda. August 2018

‘Who and what has gone missing in Uganda? Since we became a country, missing persons and missing files/information have shaped how we have access to our history, to our national identity and ourselves as people.'

Using research into the remaining “migrated” ‘Uganda Pre- Independence’ and ‘Operation Legacy’ records from the British National Archive as a jumping-off point, a short film, sound piece using material shared from conversations and two-day public installation were created which explore absence, the psychological effects of loss, recovering cultural and personal histories and the importance of accessible ‘records of truth’ for collective memories and future generations.’

'The Red Files '
